Visual appearance of the plant

Canola is a stalky bushy plant. It grows up to 2m in height and in spring flowers with vibrant yellow flowers. The seed is formed in a very slim pod. When the plant dries of it turns golden yellow and the seed itself turns black and is not much bigger than a grain of sand.

Usage on Glenvar

Canola has been used as a tool for extending the rotation on Glenvar as well as contributing to soil health and a reduction in seed burden. Canola has only been grown at Glenvar since 1996 and today an average of 12% of the rotation is planted to canola producing up to 2000T in good years.
